Oakview Cemetery welcomes thousands of visitors every year from near and far. Most visit loved ones, while many come to experience the historic and peaceful nature of the cemetery. 

Founded in 1911, Oakview Cemetery features a captivating landscape in a park-like setting on 94 acres.  Oakview Cemetery has several gardens of beautiful trees, flowers, ponds, wildlife and walking areas connected by miles of winding roads. 

The cemetery is in the heart of Royal Oak, on Main Street, just south of 12 Mile Road, on the east side of Rochester Road. A rich history and strong reputation as one of Metro-Detroit's most-visited cemeteries ensures Oakview will be here for centuries to come.

At more than a century-old, Oakview holds much of the history of Royal Oak and surrounding area within its borders. At the front entrance is a plaque marking where the oak tree, which is the City of Royal Oak’s namesake, once stood. The Royal Oak tree is also the namesake of the cemetery itself. The cemetery’s founders later planted a tree and that is the one which still stands at the front entrance today. 

Located within its borders is a uniquely-crafted memorial chapel mausoleum that was designed for those to pray, celebrate and mourn loved ones. Our chapel mausoleum and beautifully manicured grounds offer a quiet and calm setting to remember dearly departed loved ones who are interred within cemetery borders. Most sections and gardens at Oakview have been designed for single graves, mausolea, and niches in a beautifully maintained, serene park-like setting.
